Why funding became a problem at all

International poker rooms take payments through foreign providers. When you try to pay with a card issued in Russia, the bank sees an international transaction in a gaming category and declines it. That happens on the bank's side, so neither the room nor an exchanger can change the outcome — and retrying with another card from the same bank achieves nothing.

That is where the whole exchanger business came from: they take rubles inside the Russian banking rails and settle with the room in cryptocurrency. For a player it looks like a single payment — you send money to the service and your room balance goes up.

Three routes, and when each one fits

An exchanger. Suits most people: you pay in rubles, you need to know nothing about cryptocurrency, and both directions are handled by one service. The price of that convenience is the fee and the rate.

Your own cryptocurrency. The cheapest option if you already hold a wallet or an exchange account. It demands care: the address and the network must match what the cashier gave you, or the funds are gone for good.

Methods inside the cashier. Local providers sometimes appear there. If one exists and works, use it — it is the shortest path. You can only find out by trying: the list is built for your region.
